Does Anyone Go Roller Skating Anymore?

In this age of extreme sports and over-the-top activities that are enjoyed by legions of over-exuberant youth, does anyone get the urge to go roller skating anymore? Apparently, some throwbacks to another era still do, as evidenced by the blazing neon of the Holiday skating rink, a nostalgia time-warp still welcoming wheeled revelers along East Belknap Street in Haltom City, Texas.
Haltom High school is—or was—located directly across the street from the Holiday, but these days, it’s been transformed into administrative offfices for the Birdville Indpendent School District. Much to the chagrin of its alumni, there is no more Haltom High School, no more buffalo mascot, and no more football team. The Belknap drive-in theater—just a stone’s throw down the road—has been replaced by an apartment complex.
Does anyone go roller skating anymore?
